Rooted in Harmony: The Children and Legacy of Jeff and Sheri Easter
In the world of Southern gospel and acoustic country-gospel music, few names evoke the same sense of warmth, heritage, and genuine family values as Jeff and Sheri Easter. For decades, the husband-and-wife duo has graced stages worldwide, earning multiple GMA Dove Awards, Grammy nominations, and a beloved spot in the hearts of Bill Gaither Homecoming fans.
However, the true heartbeat of the Easter family legacy extends far beyond Jeff and Sheri. Music is quite literally in their DNA. As children of legendary musical dynasties—Jeff is the son of James Easter of the Easter Brothers, and Sheri is the daughter of Polly Lewis of the iconic Lewis Family—it was only natural that they would pass this rich musical torch down to their own children.
Jeff and Sheri share three children: Madison, Morgan, and Maura. Growing up primarily on a tour bus and backstage at gospel concerts, each child carved out a unique path blending family, faith, and artistry.
1. Madison Easter
As the oldest of the three siblings, Madison grew up entirely immersed in the rhythm of life on the road. Heavily gifted both musically and technically, he traveled alongside his parents as an integral part of the family ministry and band for the first 26 years of his life, earning recognition such as Musician of the Year.
Eventually, Madison transitioned away from full-time touring to focus on his own chapter. He is married to Shannon, and the couple resides in Los Angeles, California, where they continue to pursue creative and musical endeavors, raising their two boys, Miles and Rhythm.
2. Morgan Easter (Smith)
The middle child, Morgan, inherited her mother’s powerful, emotive vocal abilities and has long captured audiences with her stunning soprano and alto delivery. Exhibiting a passion for singing early on, she began performing with her parents on stage as a teenager and quickly built a celebrated career of her own, winning accolades including the Singing News Fan Award for Horizon Individual.
Morgan’s life remains deeply intertwined with the family business. She married Landan Smith, a talented drummer who spent years touring with Jeff and Sheri (having started playing drums for them as a child prodigy). Together, Morgan and Landan keep the generational cycle alive, and they are parents to a daughter named Ryman Pauline, bringing a new generation of joy and musical lineage to the Easter-Smith household.
3. Maura Grace Easter
The youngest of the siblings, Maura Grace, was born as a milestone “anniversary gift” to Jeff and Sheri after 20 years of marriage. Famously making her stage debut when she was just 11 days old, Maura grew up right in the center of the touring family unit.
Displaying a natural gift for the arts, she has frequently shared her gorgeous voice and artistic flair on tour, channeling her talents heavily into musical theater and vocal performances during her school years.
A Continuing Tradition
While many families find touring together to be an overwhelming strain, the Easters have routinely credited their close bond, mutual respect, and shared faith as the glue keeping them together. Whether through Madison’s studio contributions, Morgan’s powerhouse vocals on stage, or Maura’s theatrical artistry, Jeff and Sheri’s children prove that the rich, heritage-filled sound of Southern gospel music is safe in the hands of the next generation.
